නව ව්‍යවස්ථාවක් සකස් කරන්නැයි කාදිනල් හිමිගෙන් ඉල්ලීමක්
ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදයට විරුද්ධව සිදුකරන ලද දුෂිත ක්‍රියාවන් විමර්ශනය කිරීමට අවශ්‍ය ශක්තිමත් යාන්ත්‍රණයක් බිහිකිරීම සඳහා නව ව්‍යවස්ථාවක් අවශ්‍ය බව උන්වහන්සේ පෙන්වා දෙයි.
කථානායක වෛද්‍ය ජගත් වික්‍රමරත්න මහතා සහ කොළඹ අගරදගරු හිමිපාණන් අතර හමුවක් ඊයේ (05) පස්වරුවේ පැවති අතර ඉන් අනතුරුව කාදිනල් හිමිපාණන් මෙලෙස මාධ්‍යට අදහස් පළ කළේය.
"පාස්කු ප්‍රහාරය පිටුපස තිබුණ සැබෑ තොරතුරු හෙළිදරව් කරගැනීම තමා හුඟාක් වැදගත් වෙන්නේ. කවුද මේක කළේ, කුමන කාරණාවකට මේක කළේ, කාගේ සහයෙන් ද මේක කළේ, කියන එක සම්බන්ධව පුළුල් විමර්ශනයක් කළ යුතුයි. ලංකාව තුළ පසුගිය කාලයේ දී මේවාගේ දේවල් ගොඩක් වෙලා තියෙනවා. මිනීමැරුම්, අතුරුදන් කිරීම් ආදි හුඟාක් දේවල්වලට විමර්ශනයක් සිද්ධ වෙලා නෑ හරියාකාරව. ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදයට විරුද්ධව කරන ලද නොයෙකුත් දුෂිත ක්‍රියාවන් සියල්ල විමර්ශනය කරන්න අවශ්‍ය යාන්ත්‍රණය දැනට සකස් කරන්න කියන එක තමා අපේ ඉල්ලීම. එයට අවශ්‍ය ව්‍යවස්ථාමය වෙනස සිදුකිරීම අවශ්‍යයි. දැනට පවතින ව්‍යවස්ථාව තුළ තියෙන නොයෙකුත් දුර්වලකම් ජයගැනීමට නව ව්‍යවස්ථාවක් තිබිය යුතුයි."
A request from the Cardinal to prepare a new constitution
The Archbishop of Colombo, His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, says that a new constitution is needed for democratic governance.
The Archbishop points out that a new constitution is needed to create a strong mechanism to investigate corrupt acts committed against democracy.
A meeting between Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne and the Archbishop of Colombo was held yesterday (05) afternoon, after which the Cardinal expressed his views to the media.
"It is very important to reveal the true information behind the Easter attacks. A comprehensive investigation should be conducted into who did this, for what reason, and with whose help. Many such incidents have occurred in Sri Lanka in the past. Many cases of murder, disappearances, etc. have not been investigated properly. Our request is to immediately prepare the necessary mechanism to investigate all the various corrupt acts committed against democracy. The necessary constitutional changes are required for this. There should be a new constitution to overcome the various weaknesses in the current constitution."
